Ethereal Ensuite

A soft-modern primary bathroom renovation designed as a calming retreat within a 1990s home.

Designed as a place to begin and end the day with ease, this primary bathroom renovation transformed an original 1990s space into an airy, restorative retreat. The homeowners desired a larger shower, a true soaking tub, improved privacy between the bedroom and bath, and a calmer, more functional environment overall after an unused whirlpool tub had become little more than a landing spot for everyday clutter.

Working within the existing footprint and mindful of budget, the design balances warmth and simplicity through natural materials, wood cabinetry, softened architectural details, and larger-format tile selections chosen to minimize visual clutter and maintenance. A motorized roman shade modernizes the arched window while preserving the home’s original exterior character and drawing attention to the architectural focal point.

A BEFORE story is always a good story…

The original layout felt visually heavy, disconnected, and underutilized for the way the homeowners lived.
